Is this for you

IM ketamine is most often considered for

01

Treatment-resistant depression

You've tried multiple antidepressants at adequate doses without enough relief. Ketamine acts on a different pathway than standard SSRIs and SNRIs.

02

Anxiety & related symptoms

Used off-label, IM ketamine is sometimes considered as part of a broader treatment plan for anxiety symptoms that haven't responded to standard care.

03

Not sure which applies?

That's what the initial evaluation is for. Our clinical team reviews your history and treatment record before recommending anything.

The mechanism

A different pathway than the antidepressants you've already tried

Like esketamine, IM ketamine acts on the glutamate system — specifically NMDA receptors — rather than the serotonin pathway that SSRIs and SNRIs target. That different mechanism is part of why some patients respond even after other treatments haven't worked.

Questions

Before you call

How is IM ketamine different from Spravato?

Spravato (esketamine) is FDA-approved and typically insurance-covered for specific diagnoses. IM ketamine is used off-label, is cash-pay, and some patients respond differently to it than to esketamine. We offer both, and your evaluation will point you to the right one.

Is IM ketamine FDA-approved for depression or anxiety?

Ketamine itself is FDA-approved as an anesthetic. Its use for depression and anxiety is off-label — a common and well-documented practice in psychiatry, but one your provider will discuss with you as part of informed consent.

Does insurance cover this?

IM ketamine therapy is most often a cash-pay service, and our $199 self-pay rate applies regardless of insurance. That said, some Utah plans — including SelectHealth in certain cases — have covered IM ketamine administration for depression. Coverage depends on your specific plan and diagnosis, so ask us to check before you book if you'd like us to look into it.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required to schedule an evaluation. If you're already seeing a therapist or PCP, we're happy to coordinate care with them.

What does the first visit involve?

A full evaluation to confirm diagnosis and treatment history, review of any prior medications, and a conversation about whether IM ketamine is an appropriate next step for you.
