Is this for you

Spravato is prescribed for two specific diagnoses

01

Treatment-resistant depression

You've tried at least two antidepressants at adequate doses without enough relief. Spravato works on a different pathway than pills you've likely already tried.

02

MDD with suicidal ideation

For major depressive disorder with acute suicidal thoughts or behavior, Spravato is FDA-approved to be used alongside an oral antidepressant.

03

Not sure which applies?

That's what the initial evaluation is for. Our psychiatric team reviews your history and treatment record before recommending anything.

The Science

How Spravato Works

A novel mechanism targeting glutamate receptors — the brain's most abundant messenger system.

Targets Glutamate

Spravato blocks NMDA receptors, increasing glutamate — the brain's most abundant chemical messenger — creating a broader impact on more brain cells simultaneously.

Rapid Relief

Unlike traditional antidepressants that take weeks, Spravato can begin reducing depressive symptoms within hours to days of the first treatment session.

Promotes Brain Healing

Research suggests esketamine may reverse stress-related damage in the brain, promoting new neural connections and potentially counteracting the neurotoxic effects of chronic depression.

Questions

Before you call

How is Spravato different from IV ketamine?

Spravato (esketamine) is FDA-approved, and its intranasal formulation is what's studied and covered for treatment-resistant depression and MDD with suicidal ideation. IV ketamine is often used off-label and is typically self-pay. We offer both, and your evaluation will point you to the right one.

Will my insurance actually cover it?

Most major plans in Utah cover Spravato for the approved diagnoses, though prior authorization is usually required. We verify your specific benefits before you commit to anything.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required to schedule an evaluation. If you're already seeing a therapist or PCP, we're happy to coordinate care with them.

What does the first visit involve?

A full psychiatric evaluation to confirm diagnosis and treatment history, review of any prior medications, and a conversation about whether Spravato is an appropriate next step.
